How does the typesetting software generate a PDF file format At present, the common typesetting software does not directly support the PDF file format. Most typesetting software cannot directly transfer PDF files and must be generated by printing. For example, PageMaker, Quark Xpress or Illustrator must be installed with a plug-in program before they can be converted into PDF files. Basically, PDF files containing Chinese fonts generated by various software must be generated by Adobe's Acrobat, which can be roughly divided into three generation methods: ①Acrobat PDFWriter-suitable for the conversion of books and periodicals, the speed is faster and the file capacity is small. 2. Features of PDF file format ①Device independence: General PostScript files contain a variety of possible legal program codes, which may not work under certain conditions. For example, those that depend on some special font structure or output device code. In contrast, the PDF format does not contain any program structure, which makes it more secure and more suitable for storage or transmission in the form of electronic data. No matter what kind of computer files are created, as long as it can be converted to PDF format, it can be opened, read, printed and output without difficulty on another computer, and it can maintain the format and layout of the production. ② Font embedding: You can choose to embed text fonts in PDF files during conversion, even if a Chinese PDF file can be correctly printed in a pure English system without Chinese fonts installed, it truly achieves no borders in the file exchange network. The biggest advantage of embedded fonts is to solve the problem of different fonts or corresponding errors between the producer and the exporter. The current PS process is to use code correspondence, and it must be the same series version of the same font company to fully correspond. Font embedding can solve this problem once and for all. ③ High compressibility: PDF is a product of the Internet era. For the convenience of online communication, a great compression ratio is required. For output purposes, a slightly larger compression mode is selected in order to ensure quality, but a compression ratio of 30% to 80% can still be obtained, which is convenient for delivery to the output company on the broadband network. ④ Each page is independent: The pages of the PostScript file are interrelated. You must deal with all the pages before it before jumping to a certain page. The PDF format does not have this limitation. Three, use Acrobat Distiller to generate PDF First create a PostScript document through the PS printer, and then use Distiller to interpret this information to generate a PDF. This process can be done in one go in Distiller or separately. Print the ps file into the designated monitoring folder, and Distiller will automatically convert it to PDF. When generating a PDF for output, you must make some corresponding settings for its properties. There are three aspects: 1. Create the settings of the PS file and make settings on the printer. First select [Settings]> [Printers] in the start menu, then right-click the Distiller printer, and then click the [Properties] item to make various settings. Font conversion settings: Click the [Font] tab at the top of the window, and you should select: "Always use TrueType fonts" to make the output result consistent with the printed sample. [Paper] Layout settings: To reserve margins outside of the finished product size of the print, the film needs to leave 7.5mm margins for cutting lines, registration line color marks, and bleeding positions. The printer ’s predetermined paper size should be reset. . Resolution selection under [Graphics]: 2400DPI is enough. The job options provide different application options: Screen Optimized (print optimization settings), Print Optimized (print optimization settings), Press Optimized (print optimization settings). Generally, you can choose according to the situation. However, when officially outputting, it is recommended to customize a set of your own job options: first select Press Optimized (print optimization settings) as the basis, and then execute [Settings]> [Job Options]: [Compression]: Change the "Quality" of "Color Bitmap Image" and "Gray Bitmap Image" from the original "Maximum" to "High", which can reduce the file size by 40% and increase the conversion speed by double. Basically does not damage the image quality. ② [File]> [Preferences] Take: View PDF when using Distiller printer-automatic viewing. After setting, once a PS file enters the monitoring folder, Distiller will automatically convert it to PDF. 3. Use only once, such as special layout sizes, before printing. Using different software, the options of the printer are not the same. In addition to PM6.5, such as "Word", "Corel" and other software, you also need: ■Print to file. [Printer]: Choose the typical installed Adobe Distiller printer. Even if you print the color draft by yourself, it is converted to PDF and then printed, which can avoid many errors. 4. Notes on using different typesetting software 1. PageMaker typesetting software When creating a PDF file, be sure to press the ALT key and then click [File] and then drag to [Print], otherwise the font cannot be embedded! This is an inherent defect of PM6.5. 2. Graphics software such as CorelDRAW The glyph is outlined automatically, so there is no problem with text embedding. 3. PDF font embedding Select "Typical installation" when installing Acrobat, and the printer and PPD files will be installed automatically. Font embedding: Embed your TrueType words in PDF, although making the file slightly larger, it completely avoids the risk of errors when replacing characters in the output center. However, some producers of TrueType characters restrict this, such as Founder ’s new TrueType simplified characters, please do not use them. There are no restrictions on how to check fonts, please refer to Acrobat Help P79. Check the embedded fonts: If the PDF file does not have embedded fonts, it will be replaced when outputting, and the height of the screen / print / output cannot be guaranteed to be consistent. It needs to be checked once. The method is to open the PDF file with Acrobat, click [File]> [Document Information]> [Font], and observe the font information. For example, the "embedded subset" appears under [Used Fonts] is successful; the appearance of "FZYTJW-GB1-0" indicates that there is no embedded font. Although the font in the first line is not embedded, the font for Windows under [Encoding] indicates that this is a commonly used font in the system, and there is no error in replacement.
